“I recently qualified as a social worker, and I’m excited to start making a real difference. I’ve developed strong skills in communication, assessment, and working with people from all walks of life. What matters most to me is building honest relationships, staying compassionate, and working with others to help create positive change.”
During my placement at Westminster Children’s Services, I supported social workers in their day-to-day work with children and families. I took part in home visits, helped gather information for assessments, and wrote up case notes under supervision. I regularly observed meetings with families and other professionals, which helped me understand how support plans are created and reviewed.
This experience gave me a strong grounding in safeguarding, child-centred practice, and the importance of clear, sensitive communication.
Providence Row, I worked directly with people experiencing homelessness, helping them access housing, benefits, healthcare, and other essential services. I supported clients through difficult moments, building trust and working with them to set small, achievable goals. I also ran wellbeing and life-skills sessions and worked closely with external agencies to make sure clients received joined-up support.
This role strengthened my ability to stay calm under pressure, communicate with empathy, and support people with a wide range of complex needs.
