I have a clean driving licence and also hold a clean HGV class 2 driving licence. I have worked as a HGV lorry driver/ sales adviser for many years prior to becoming a self-employed taxi driver. Most recently moving into postal distribution working for Royal Mail. I am a very capable and punctual individual who takes their work seriously. I am reliable and hard working. I am willing to work flexibly and additional hours when required.

Working as a postman my main duties include: sorting postal items, preparing journey routes and delivering parcels. As a driver, I also conduct vehicle checks, pick up mail from post boxes, post offices and businesses and deal with wrongly addressed or returned mail. Using my previous knowledge of the local area I volunteered to be an unassigned worker, rather than having the same route each day I cover any route required.

I worked as a self-employed taxi driver and have excellent knowledge of my local area. As a driver, I was competent and careful, with a strong focus on the safety of passengers and other road users. Due to the flexibility of this job I was able to work around my children which supported my wife during her own career progression.

HGV / Sales Representative, responsible for selling my company's services. My work involved distributing frozen food related goods to my customers throughout North East England in a timely and appropriate manner.

• I managed my workload by taking orders by telephone and face to face.
• I agreed costs (always ensuring they were within agreed percentage profits) then arranged a reasonable delivery time scale.
• It was then my responsibility to ensure I ordered the necessary goods to meet customer requirements.
• I loaded my own wagon safely and delivered to my customer on time.
• I managed customer accounts to ensure they were ordering within their agreed limit, collecting cash and ensuring invoices were correctly issued.

HGV Driver - Henry Colbeck - Team Valley Trading Estate

HGV driver, responsible for the delivery of food items to Northern England and Scotland. Provide an outstanding, quality and customer service experience to ensure customer satisfaction not only for me but also for Henry Colbeck.

• I would begin the day by completing the necessary safety checks on my vehicle.
• As well as delivering goods I was also responsible for completing the necessary paperwork and collecting customer payments.

I first joined the company to provide help to the HGV drivers, loading and unloading their vehicle and help to deliver goods. By spending time with the driver I felt this helped me understand their role as well as giving me first-hand experience dealing with customers via telephone and face to face. When the opportunity arose I applied and passed all required HGV tests before successfully applying for promotion to become a HGV driver.

• I was then responsible for driving my own vehicle and delivered products on behalf of the company.
• I managed my workload by planning daily drops to ensure I met customer demand.
• I was also responsible for loading my wagon safely and delivering it to customers on time.

Warehouse Operative - Cearns & Brown - Jarrow

As a warehouse operative I was responsible for loading a HGV vehicle using a counter balance fork lift truck. I was provided with a list of daily orders per wagon. Following safety regulations I would then locate and pick the necessary order before loading the relevant HGV vehicle.
