About

I am a student at the University of Surrey that did a Criminology and Sociology course, and as well done a Masters degree in Criminology, which allowed me to enhance my critical thinking and ability to work in groups. In addition, I was a former police cadet with Surrey Police, allowing me to gain skills in community engagement and public communication, as well allowing me to demonstrate ethical conduct and interpersonal communication in a social setting, which I aim to apply my academic knowledge and practical experience into my career.

Experience

STUDENT - None - Guildford, Surrey

(2021-09 - 2024-04)

I attended lectures at the University of Surrey for three years, where I studied Criminology and Sociology.

  • I identified key concepts and areas during lectures where I did not understand, which can then be further studied later so that I can comprehend them and use them in my assignments.
  • Despite the challenges between my personal and university life, I was able to balance my time for academic commitments and also for my hobbies.

POLICE CADET - Surrey Police - Guildford, Surrey

(2018-03 - 2022-05)

  • Participated in community events in order to develop positive relationships between the police and the public, such as helping out in a marathon event by providing water, and ensuring there were enough supplies for the runners.
  • Every session, drills were conducted as a way to uphold the strict ethical standards and guidelines, creating discipline within myself.
  • Sessions that taught us how to conduct ourselves professionally and interact with the public as police officers

VOLUNTEER TRANSLATOR

  • Became a unpaid translator to help my parents understand certain issues or words they did not understand as they speak Spanish but are not fluent in English.
  • Volunteered to help translate for other people who did not speak English very well to help them understand what they need to do and avoid making mistakes.
  • Translated for people who spoke Spanish in different situations, whether it be reading them their letters so they know what it is, or translating for them when they are on phone with another person so they can keep up and not have to waste time.
  • Lastly, I would then explain what they need to do in the future so they are able to complete the task without much issue, and to call for me if they need help in translating.
