About

I moved from Edinburgh my birth city to Salford in 2000 and have done various building jobs before my NVQ. I enjoyed my time working in social housing, and after trying a number of different roles I have decided that this is the sector that I would like to return to.

Experience

Employed as delivery driver for Morgenrot beer and wine importers 4 days a week, 1-2 days a week undertaking small building jobs.

Building contractor - Self-employed

(2023-06 - 2025-01)

Self employed building contractor with my own clients and also regular subcontracting work with Twin Bee Maintenance. When the work became more scarce I sought further employment.

Trainer assessor - Salford City College

(2022-06 - 2023-06)

Employed as a trainer assessor for Salford City College assessing brickwork and groundwork apprentices. Left as my own small business took off and I became very busy assisting a maintenance company as a regular subcontractor.

Multi-skilled technician - Pendleton Together Housing Association - Salford

(2019-11 - 2022-06)

Employed as a multi-skilled technician by Pendleton Together Housing Association who manage Salford City Council’s housing stock. I was given repairs tasks on a daily basis and work inside tenants’ properties, undertaking remedial works to bring properties up to the required standard. My duties often included bricklaying, plastering, groundwork, basic plumbing and joinery and tiling.

I undertook repairs on void properties to bring them up to a lettable standard to allow them to be let to new tenants. I was also on the rota for emergency out of hours work, which meant that I was required to enter the properties of elderly and sometimes vulnerable tenants to undertake any urgent repairs at evenings and weekends. I was (and continue to be) regularly complimented on both the standard of my work, the tidy and efficient way in which I undertake repairs and also my friendly and approachable manner.

Left to try to further my career off the tools and to train the younger generation.
