Georgia Childs

A creative, well-presented Art and Design graduate with a drive for supporting in artistic and creative skills. Experienced in maintaining art studios, preparing spaces under health and safety policies, gathering necessary materials and tools, and assisting in the teaching of a range of media and studies including food technology, woodwork, product design, traditional art, digital illustration, graphic design, printmaking, pottery and sculpture and textiles. My previous education and roles have developed my knowledge, proactive approach to a safe, creative and growth-mindset environment, and a high level to attention to detail.

• I have a good level of experience in the educational field. From my experience in the Protocol agency in mentoring SEND students to my most current work placement at Kew College Prep as mentor for younger years SEND students and a teaching assistant for Year 4. 
• Working in a workplace where I can merge my experience in pastoral and student support with my years of academic and personal creative development is the ideal placement for me. I am adaptable, work well in a team and enjoy the rewards of supporting the new generations. 
• Plan and deliver intervention sessions for groups of up to 6 for extra support and SEN needs, assist in classroom and behavioral management, and practical lessons, administration and resource tasks.
• Ensure access to additional resources and SEND equipment, resources and subject-specific toolkits.
• Provide safeguarding and pastoral support, fostering a positive, inclusive, professional and empathetic environment for staff, students and families whilst keeping with safeguarding procedures and health and safety standards.
• Attend weekly staff meetings and presentations on safeguarding, SEND and pastoral guidelines or policy changes.
• Run a weekly Arts and Crafts afterschool club of up to 13 students including compiling independently designed activities, preparation, organisation, development and cleanliness of the sessions that supported specific motor skills and creative development abilities. 

I am extremely passionate when it comes to Art and Design, and it is an environment I can naturally thrive in. Considering my diploma, degrees and GCSEs in Art and Design and Textiles, I wanted to pursue a role change in my career. I have a high level of creative energy that I push for in the workplace and my personal time.

Although I don’t have access to the larger machines, of screen printing to laser cutting, I do use more accessible tools such as my sewing machines, saws and sanders as much as possible. I spend most my travels, however, creating digital and traditional artworks with charcoals and watercolours. I thrive through inspirations in my day-to-day observations and findings, by entering online art competitions, or events where I’m able to create props/costumes for.

Can understand a specified brief, build knowledge with an open-minded view through intensive qualitive and quantitative research and develop and adapt to new concepts and ideas allowing a deeper understanding of attention to detail within both a research-based and styling/creative environment.

Able to work alongside a team consisting of members with different abilities, knowledge and ethnic backgrounds from different courses throughout the university, creating a positive community of diverse respect and consideration, and communication skills.

Work on independent and shortened projects to build confidence, strategic thinking and develop abilities in keeping calm and collected through high pressure and fast paced tasks.
