Pro Bono Research | BESS Droop Control & Power Sharing at University of Leeds / independent continuation of MSc hardware research (2026-09 – Present)

• Conducting physical testing and commissioning on DC microgrid/BESS rigs to evaluate droop-based power sharing and secondary DC-bus voltage regulation.
• Comparing conventional PI and integral-only secondary control, current-sharing behaviour, current-limited operation and constant-power-load cases across simulation and hardware.
• Investigating BESS contribution under differing state-of-charge and current-limit conditions while maintaining a nominal 90 V DC bus.
• Using test data to compare hardware-versus-simulation behaviour, controller tuning, dynamic excursions, bus recovery, battery current/power sharing and system stability.
• Working with oscilloscopes, power analysers and power-conversion hardware while maintaining test records and safe test-bay practice.

Electrical Engineering Intern at HEMCO FZE (2025-05 – 2025-07)

• Reverse-engineered power and control systems on heavy/mobile piling and offshore-rig equipment using Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLC-based automation, including MicroLogix and RSLogix 500 exposure.

• Developed and tested optical-fibre battery-diagnostic sensing using Fabry-Perot and evanescent/tapered-fibre techniques.
