About

I am an eager and motivated individual who is enthusiastic about pursuing a career in the automotive/motor vehicle industry. Since childhood, I've had a fascination for fixing and mending things. Whether it's repairing household appliances like the broken belt on the tumble dryer or addressing more complex issues such as the cracked motor pinion on a commercial electronic potato peeler at my workplace, I've always enjoyed diving into mechanical challenges.

Recently, I've extended my skills to servicing a variety of my family's vehicles. From changing brake pads and a seized caliper on my uncle's Vauxhall Astra to tackling more intricate tasks like replacing leaking coolant hoses on a Corsa VXR, I've embraced each opportunity to learn and grow. Most notably, I undertook the daunting task of removing and rebuilding an entire engine on my brother's 1L EcoBoost.

This involved replacing components such as the head gasket, wet belt, turbo, and performing a partial engine rebuild by replacing rod bearings and crankshaft bearings. Despite the complexity of the task, I approached it with enthusiasm and dedication, further solidifying my passion for automotive repair. This passion for repairing and servicing vehicles has driven me to pursue a professional role as a service technician.

I find great fulfillment in the intricacies of automotive repair, and I am eager to deepen my knowledge in a professional setting. With a natural problem-solving mindset and extensive experience in maintenance and repairs, I am confident that I would be a valuable addition to your team.

Experience

Fish and Chips food Proprietor - Georges Fish & Kebab Bar

(2023-05)

I am currently working part-time in a customer service-based role preparing food at a fish and chips shop. I typically stay behind the fryer, preparing and cooking all the food ordered by customers. Additionally, I handle tasks such as retrieving customer orders and maintaining the cleanliness of the fryers and equipment within the premises. I have been in this role since May 2023, during which time I have acquired a multitude of transferable skills.

  • Great communication skills - I developed my communication abilities through efficient teamwork with my colleagues, ensuring polite and effective retrieval of their orders. This allowed me to cook the food for their orders efficiently, resulting in error-free service and a faster, better experience for the customer.
  • Resilience under pressure - I've learned to stay calm and focused during the hectic Friday rush, were waves of customers flood in simultaneously. Handling multiple orders while maintaining quality service in a fast-paced environment has taught me to manage tasks efficiently, even during peak times
  • Performing well under a high workload - I perfected multitasking at high speeds while ensuring quality customer service, a skill I developed during the demanding Friday rush.

Maintenance operator - St-Paul's Catholic School

(2023-01-09 - 2023-01-13)

In this role, I was responsible for cleaning and maintaining the St. Paul's Catholic School site. This included tasks such as mowing the lawn using a ride-on mower, operating attachments on a medium-sized tractor, trimming hedges, cleaning moss off the school gate, and receiving deliveries of school resources such as paper, books, and stationery using a pallet truck.

Additionally, I operated an ATV to clean out drains for proper water flow. I also took initiative to repair a malfunctioning grass trimmer, diagnosing and fixing a fouled spark plug. Working in this role has provided me with a wide range of transferable skills.

  • Problem-solving mindset - There was a time during my work experience when I was out in the field with the ATV and a grass trimmer, and the trimmer wouldn't start. I had to return to the shed and determine the cause of the issue. Firstly, I checked if it had fuel, then I inspected it for any fluid leaks to prevent fire hazards during use. Next, I removed the spark plug using a spark plug socket and found that it was fouled, preventing ignition. I replaced it with a new one, and the trimmer starte
  • Being flexible and adaptable - Not a single day was the same during my one-week experience at St. Paul's. One day, I would be storing brand new supplies, and the next, I might be trimming hedges or completing cleaning tasks. This experience forced me to develop the skill of flexibility, enabling me to perform tasks that were completely new to me and learn them within a short time span.
  • Self-motivated- In this job I learnt the skill of self-motivation to carry on doing what was expected of me even when the job got hard and I wanted to take a rest. This was actually very rewarding as I felt I had earnt the breaks that I was given.
