Biomedical Science graduate with previous Laboratory Technician experience, keen about developing my knowledge in the field of biomedical and research sciences. Recent experience includes the handling of bodily fluids (red blood cells and sera), including other biological samples primarily being bacteria. Obtaining results via analytical lab techniques like PCR, microscopy, flow cytometry and HPLC.

Management of various automated systems (agitators, sonicators, vortexes, autoclaves) coinciding medical device sample testing under aseptic conditions. A capacity to multi-task and adhere to new processes and a readiness to collaborate alongside laboratory professionals and tackle new challenges with critical thinking and a solution-based mindset.

Laboratory Skills 

Microscopy incorporated in microbiology and pathology. Microbial handling in aseptic conditions under the use of a laminar air flow. Data analysis and entry using LIMS software for biological samples and medical device testing. Lab automated systems.

Sound collaborative skills. Attention to detail. Sufficiency in Microsoft Office software handling, Good written and verbal communication. Compassion and receptivity with patients as a National Trust Volunteer at the Royal Berkshire Hospital where I could empathise and listen to patients’ life stories and medical conditions.

2019 Radiotherapy Work Placement Shadowing 

• Witnessing procedure of patients undergoing laser alignment to the problem areas of the body
• First-hand viewing of feedback computer scanning/ radiographing and how this can be manipulated on a monitor

EMPLOYMENT

(Sep 2022-Ongoing) STERIS Laboratory Technician

• Medical device testing and sterilisation (ISO 13485 certified)
• Performing microbiological techniques on customer products
• Culture preparation, bioburden testing 
• customer products and in-house stock packing ready for irradiation
• Product inoculation with laboratory media, cultured at varied temperatures of incubation 
• Operation and maintenance of the laboratory autoclaves, water generation systems, balances, laminar flows, manifolds and filters, agitators, sonication systems etc. 
• General laboratory cleaning and maintenance of test rooms via environmental monitoring techniques
• Disposal of lab (and biohazardous) waste generated in carrying out duties
• Responsible for stock control in conjunction with the other laboratory staff in a proactive manner

Privileged with the opportunity to attend the Essex University summer school of 2021 to further expand my skills in clinical research through ranged techniques like blood grouping, microbial testing, and cellular staining.
