A very attentive lady that listens to instructions effectively and put them into action. I am punctual, reliable and use my initiative to take reasonable actions without being told what to do. My communication skills allows me to interact with the patients, midwives, and other healthcare professionals. I am a very dedicated person and i genuinely love what I do and my interest makes me deliver my best work everyday.

• As a volunteer in the maternity ward my responsibilities are to support the midwives with bed making which I was taught by the midwives. I was taught a particular way of how to make a bed to suit the comfort of the patient on the second day at my work placement.
• I am also responsible for going to the patient when they press the buzzer bell, so if they need my assistance for any errand like getting them hot or cold water, extra pillows or bed covers, bowls, getting them breast pumps for their babies, getting them warm water for their babies, getting them a steriliser, getting the mothers pants or pads and some other minor things I am supposed to do as a volunteer. In a case where I am not supposed to do what the patient ask me to do, I would tell them to wait so I would get their midwives for them. 
• Sometimes if the patient rings the bosa bell they would just ask me to get either their support workers, their midwives, doctors, or the lactation consultant. It is my responsibility as a volunteer to inform any of the healthcare professionals that the patient needs and tell them why the patients’ needs them, sometimes all I do is to inform them the patients’ needs their help if I was not told the purpose from, the patient.
• It is also my responsibility arrange a discharge pack which contains discharge booklet that tells the mother how to breastfeed their babies, it also tells them the dos and don’ts when it comes to breastfeeding their babies, the discharge pack also contains postnatal maternity booklet which gives the mother information about their health wellbeing during the postnatal period. The pack should be given to the patients who are going home from the hospital by the midwives, but I have been trained by midwives on how to arrange the discharge booklet, how to give them and when to give them. In my free time in the hospital, I would arrange all the booklets packs and put them in a box so that immediately the midwife gives me the list of patients that are getting discharged I would give it to them sometimes. I also give them some discharge forms which entails their names address, phone numbers and some other information they must provide in the form. The midwives sometimes inform me to give the patients some discharge videos which would be helpful for the patients postnatal care it congratulates them on their delivery and gives them about their health and wellbeing, it tells them where they could get health care and assistance on any issues they are facing. This is to show them that they are not alone in the birth of their baby. 
• It is also my responsibility to also take the used cloths to the laundry doing this would make the health care professionals feel at ease because they would not have to carry out the little task I have done. I also help some of the patients with their luggage when they are getting discharged in the process of helping them, I chat with them congratulating them about the birth of their baby like telling them how cute their baby is and asking them about their feedback about the treatment they received from the hospital if they liked it or not most of the patients I asked says they loved the way they were treated by the volunteers and health care professionals mostly the midwives and social workers they said they were really kind people. So, my responsibility in the maternity ward is to make the healthcare professionals and the service users be at ease and make sure the patients receive the care and support they need.
