Dental nurse - Falkirk
(2024-08)
I trained as a dental nurse, working four days a week in a busy dental practice in Falkirk until August. I have always had a strong interest in dentistry, and this role offered an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience and work towards a future career in the field. I initially worked on reception, where my responsibilities included answering telephone calls, greeting patients, completing, and filing paperwork, booking appointments, and ensuring patients were directed appropriately within the practice.
This helped me develop effective communication, organisation, and customer service skills. I then progressed into working in surgery daily, helping the dental therapist and working with the dentist once a week. I became confident and enthusiastic in the clinical environment, helping during treatments and supporting patient care.
I thoroughly enjoyed the role and was keen to begin formal training to expand my knowledge and work towards gaining my dental nursing qualification. I was sad to leave for college, as I loved the role, and was offered a full-time position at the practice if I choose to pursue my career in dentistry after completing my studies.
