Volunteer - Brownies (GirlGuiding)
Through my volunteering with both Brownies and Rainbows, I regularly work with children, parents, and other leaders to create a safe, organised, and welcoming environment. This has helped me develop strong communication skills, because I need to explain activities clearly, listen carefully, and adapt my approach depending on who I am speaking to. I support with setting up sessions, supervising groups, and encouraging participation.
Volunteering across different age groups has strengthened my responsibility, teamwork, and confidence when working with a variety of people. I am reliable, approachable, and able to stay positive and supportive in busy or challenging situations.
Volunteer - Woodlands Animal Sanctuary
I volunteered here looking after the animals and assisted visitors and provided information about the sanctuary and its animals. I worked as part of a team to care for the variety of animals and maintained a calm working environment, helping and teaching and new volunteers. Although working on a team was very important and beneficial, most of the time I was left to handle responsibilities independently during shifts.
Summer Experience - Voluntary Animal Care
During my summer voluntary experience in animal care, I was responsible for looking after a variety of animals, ensuring their wellbeing and daily needs were consistently met. This role helped me develop strong organisational skills through managing routines and responsibilities, as well as improving my independence and ability to solve problems calmly and efficiently. I also learned the importance of attention to detail, reliability, and maintaining a high standard of care, all of which are valuable skills in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
