Hi,
My name is Grant and I'm a passionate filmmaker. I studied Film and Media Production for three years at College and 2 years at University. I love to do editing in my spare time and I like to use Adobe Premiere Pro as my editing software. Editing is perhaps the main role I enjoy doing when it comes to Film and Media. But I do like to get involved with other parts of filmmaking such as cinematography, boom operator and photography.
At University, I made my own film which was focused on the Battle of Britain because I have a huge passion for history. The Hanley Potteries and Arts Gallery Museum became a huge part in that film since I was able to get an interview one of the staff members and hire out the entire Spitfire room to film inside. When making this film, I understood the importance of prep. This included equipment list, shot list, interview questions, risk assessments, legal documents etc.
Later on, I would go onto do voluntary work at the museum to fill out paperwork for boxes that contained historical items inside. This would include writing down accession numbers, name of the items, quantity, condition notes and taking a photograph of them afterwards with a DSLR camera.
During my two years at University, it had helped me to develop more skills in not only educationally but mentally as well. I didn't have much confidence before going to University since I was more shy and didn't have good communication. However during my 1st year, we were sent to Keswick to make a short film and that week really helped me get out of my comfort zone a lot.
After that week, I wanted to get more involved as I could and strive for the best work I can produce. I knew how to work a video camera properly to get the good shots I wanted and produce the best final edit I can do in terms of quality. At the moment, I have a Level 4 in Film and Media Production.
