I have worked as a full time buyer in the procurement team for 5 years, I began working as an apprentice for 1 year and completed that not long after successfully gaining the buyer role. This has allowed me to gain numerous skills and knowledge along with experience within the field. My main tasks include processing orders, building supplier relationships, booking training course & conferences which allows staff to be up to date with their skills and knowledge within their roles.
Since becoming a buyer within the team I have been trusted to help train our apprentice or new starters on the systems and processes we follow. I am keen to build on my knowledge and skills further through development opportunities which will help me progress within the team. Although I have gained knowledge and skill within this role there are always new ones to be learning as processes and procedures are changing all the time.
I was given the opportunity to work from home throughout covid but I did return to work in the office part time and have been working 2 days in the office, 3 days at home. This has allowed me to become independent and manage my work load and day. I use the organisations policies and procedures when dealing with conflict and communicating with customers, I also use the organisations values ( Respect, Honest, Care & Communication and Transparent).
I follow the procurement processes everyday when processing orders, booking conferences and courses as well as talking with end users.
