I have enjoyed working with a range of people in my present and previous employment. My experiences have enabled me to develop a range of interpersonal and communication skills which allow me to build positive professional relationships. Recently I have studied for a Diploma in Professional Secretary Studies. I intend to use my new skills & previous experience gained in a new profession; this will give me the foundations I will need for a new challenge & aid my personnel development.
Trainee Secretary - Bridgnorth Gas Showroom
(1990-05 - 1990-08)
My position was trainee secretary in a showroom, for a local company that provided both local businesses & the general public with Calor gas bottles & associated accessories. My roles &
responsibilities were to report to the showroom manager, take orders & write invoices for clients of local businesses & file any correspondences. I was also responsible for taking phone calls & making phone calls on the manager's behalf. This enhanced my customer service skills, which was very important for the role I had within the company.
Starter Chef - Littleton Arms
(1990-08 - 1991-10)
Working as a trainee chef in a local public house & restaurant, for a family owned business; reporting to the head chef at the start of every shift. I was mainly responsible for the preparation of starter meals & breakfasts. This would involve working with others in a busy environment, which required great awareness of not just my own working environment but also that of my colleagues.
Working as part of a team, having good communication skills & being flexible with changes was important to this role. Other responsibilities include checking stock levels & for any products that were close to becoming out of date & ensuring the general cleanliness of the working area.
Cashier - Funland
(1991-11 - 1992-07)
In the role of a cashier in an amusement arcade centre in a busy seaside resort; reporting to the deputy manager at the start & finish of every shift. My responsibilities were to ensure that all change machines were adequately stocked with coins. Other responsibilities were to count change booth takings at the end of every shift, this would also require taking cash to the main collection office; when certain amounts were obtained at each change booth.
This role required good communication, being able to work as part of a team & excellent customer service skills. As this role involved working with the general public.
Nursery Nurse - Tiny Tots Nursery
(2001-10 - 2002-03)
In the capacity of a nursery nurse for a local children's day care centre; my responsibilities were the organisation of day to day activities within the nursery. This required great consideration as to what activities would be appropriate for each individual age group. Attributes required for this role were, good communication skills with different types of individuals, excellent organisation skills & being able to work as part of a team.
Having a sound knowledge of the organisational and legal requirements for the post was essential to my role. In this role I also gained experience in working with children who have learning difficulties.
Teaching Assistant - Our Lady's Catholic School
(2002-03 - 2003-03)
Working as a teaching assistant for a school's afterhour's activity club; reporting to the head teacher at the start of every shift. My responsibilities were the organisation of day to day activities within the class. This required great organisation skills for each activity undertaken; tasks included helping young children with reading, writing & co-ordination skills.
Attributes required for this role were, good communication skills with different types of individuals, excellent organisation skills & being able to work as part of a team. I was also the breakfast club leader.
Retail Assistant - Matalan

My role as a retail assistant for a large national department store; reporting to the deputy manager at the start of every shift. My role covered a range of areas within the store, with the main responsibilities being to ensure the smooth running of the home wear, women's wear & children's wear section of the store. This involves ensuring that the areas are well stocked with necessary items & are set out in an organised fashion.
Working as part of a team & having good communication skills are vital to this role.
Shop Assistant - SPAR

In this position as a Shop Assistant my roles are good customer service, being able to work as part of a team & use own initiative; also maintain shop stock is replenished regularly, deal with national lottery & pay point along with customer requirements to use external courier services. My accountabilities are to keep record of shop stock each shift and setting alarms, as well as ensuring that the shop is securely shut & that all valuable stock is securely lock away.

Security Officer - Securitas

In my current role as a security officer, I need to have security clearance to work on the client's premises (BAE Systems), which I have. My primary role is the security of the client's site and assets. To ensure that this is carried out to the highest standard, I'm responsible for checking that everyone seeking access to the site have the correct level of clearance.
I'm responsible for manning the security gate for vehicle access & acceptance of parcels. This is performed by checking security documents, recording vehicle registration numbers along with driver name & contact details. The role requires that I issue security passes to individuals who have been granted access to the client's site.
This is done by checking personal security documentation (passport, driver's licence, And letter of confirmation from the client etc).
