My professional journey commenced with my role as a health economist at a research center specializing in health equity analysis. Subsequently, I transitioned to the position of Health Economics Advisor at Iran's Medical Council Organization (IMCO). At IMCO, I served as the Health Economic and Medical Tariff Manager, collaborating with a talented team to play a pivotal role in shaping national tariffs and reimbursement mechanisms for healthcare services in the country.
This experience provided me with valuable insights into working with interdisciplinary teams and engaging with key policymakers to develop healthcare benefits packages, focusing on health services tariffs, reimbursement strategies, and health technology assessment.
Upon relocating to the UK in 2019, I got the opportunity to work as a Health Economics Advisor for Exeter's Clinical Trials Unit (ExeCTU) and England's NIHR Research Services Design (RDS). In these roles, I actively contributed to providing health economic evaluation design and methodological inputs for clients seeking economic evaluations alongside Randomized Control Trials (RCTs) or observational studies. Notably, I played a health economic analyst role in a significant NIHR-funded trial comparing Fast MRI to Mammography for diagnosing breast cancer within the current England Breast Cancer Screening program, including the development of a Budget Impact Analysis.
Transitioning to Warwick Evidence ( a commissioned Evidence Assessment/Review Group (EAG)) further enriched my professional experience. This role exposed me to England's policy processes and the criteria for appraising new treatments/medicines entering the market. During this period, I gained more skills in critically reviewing and assessing pharma companies Health Technology Assessment (HTA) reports and dossiers particularly focusing on Single Technology Appraisals in the field of Oncology.
Additionally, I gained a deep understanding of the market access pathway, and methodologically I learned how to incorporate survival analysis and real-world evidence in economic evaluation of new treatments.
Currently, I hold the position of Assistant Professor at Coventry, where I provide methodological expertise in economic evaluation to researchers across various research topics and study designs."
