I am a time served mechanical maintenance technician working for TATA steel at the 20" pipe mill in Hartlepool. I am the mechanical team leader for my shift. I am looking to develop my knowledge and career working within a multi skilled team that can overcome problems to a high safety standard and in a cost effective manner.

Mechanical Technician - TATA Steel - Hartlepool

I currently work at TATA Steel as the mechanical team lead of a maintenance team at the 20" pipe mill. I routinely undertake maintenance tasks such as planned maintenance, attending breakdowns and fixing the issues in the safest, quickest manner and carrying out daily tasks that are reported to me. My duties also include prioritising work to be done, taking phone calls to attend breakdowns filling in the daily log and handing over to the next shift.

I am the safety representative for my shift and regularly attend safety briefings with a focus on reviewing and improving safety systems. I am also in charge of taking apprentices and helping to start their on site training.

I started my apprenticeship at TTE as a mechanical fitter. I competed a 4 year apprenticeship, 2 of which was college work and the last 2 involved practical experience on site.

I first started as a glass collector and progressed onto working behind the bar a few months later.
