I am reliable, punctual, honest and trustworthy with the ability to follow instructions carefully, learn new skills, multitask and use initiative where required. I take pride in completing tasks to a high standard and enjoy working within a busy environment where I can efficiently work independently or in a team. I have excellent communication skills, therefore, I establish good working relationships with others.
I work efficiently with other professionals to conceptualise and implement strategies to solve problems. In addition, I am proficient, work well under pressure and effectively adhere to deadlines. With regard to professional and personal conduct, I implement organisations policies, practices and ethos where I convey a positive attitude and behaviour towards the school community.
I am compliant with safeguarding pupil's wellbeing through adhering statutory guidance including school policies and practice. Furthermore, organisations expected values are upheld through respecting individual differences and cultural diversity. I have completed my BA (honours) degree in Education with a first class and I am looking to progress from working as a teaching assistant to becoming a teacher to expand my skills and knowledge to support my employer.
After ascertaining my degree and proceeding to obtain a teaching qualification, I believed that it was imperative that I gained further teaching experience. This assisted in determining age groups and types of schools suitable for my interests and preferences. I initially worked in a mainstream primary school as a one-to-one teaching assistant, this experience evoked an interest in working with children with Special Education Needs (SEN).
I found that I was particularly interested in meeting Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) requirements and finding innovative ways to educate pupils with specific needs. My position at this school allowed me to attain skills and training that that I implemented daily; sensory circuits and Lego therapy were amongst my favourite sessions that I practiced. In addition, I managed behaviours with reward charts that I devised, which proved to have a positive impact on pupils.
Furthermore, I volunteered to assist teaching staff on residential trips to help manage behaviour, support pupils with SEN requirements, administer medication and further expand on my teaching experience with learning outside the classroom. Complying with specific pupils needs interested me further which initiated me to work in a SEN school, this is my current post. My experiences in this setting have inspired me to become a SEN teacher, especially the emphasis on focussing on a child centred approach to promote individual achievement and independence.
It has been rewarding equipping pupils with skills, confidence and knowledge through a varied curriculum; which involves customising the curriculum through liaising with educational professionals to set targets that would be beneficial for each individual. Ad
