I am a friendly, extroverted, and a confident conscientious young woman. I enjoy helping others and talking to people. I have volunteered as a youth worker, a gardener, a babysitter, and a council member.
I have been a young carer for my sister for about 2 years which involves household tasks as well as assisting her with any aspects of life that she needs. I am proud of myself and all I have achieved in school and life so far. I have started my A-Levels in September of 2024, and I am really looking forward to getting a job where I can use the skills I have gained previously and build that for my future.
In my role as a youth worker, I assisted the staff when working with the kids who would come after school. I have ran events and games to keep the kids entertained, going through the planning stages, all the way through to carrying it out. I have partaken in cleaning, cooking, activities, trips out of the center, and done a fire exit run through.
In the area, we have kids mainly from a poor working-class area with Parents who struggle with money severely, as well as children with additional needs, therefore I have learned to tailor my approach to the individual children to allow the activities to run smoothly in a timely manner. Adaptability, flexibility and a common sense approach to the tasks is essential along with conflict resolution and I pride myself on my punctuality, reliability, and time management skills, as well as working part of a team, and alone.
I have been a member of Durham Youth council since November 2023. Durham youth council is where I develop my confidence, leadership, listening and punctuality skills. I have helped organize the youth awards.
Last year I helped to hand out awards and this year I helped host the event with my Partner. I have communicated with people from all over the council, and volunteered with them at different events, such as their meet and greet for the last 2 years and their make a mark events. This organization helps me build my skills that I will be able to use now and in the future.
Previously as a babysitter, I have had to be extra attentive when looking after younger kids. I have had to make sure all welfare needs are met. I have had to cook food, tidy up after kids and make sure their needs are met. I always give my all in whatever I am asked to do and understand how looking after a family’s child is a sign of trust, and they have all my empathy
I currently go to Durham Sixth Form Centre and I take 3 BTECs consisting of Psychology, Law, and Performing Arts.
