Isla Robinson

My name is Isla Robinson, and I have always been inspired to make a change into people's lives. I am interested in Health and Social Care and health and safety as it's what I excel at the most as I have always had that passion to help out and take part with community.

Since I was young, I've been drawn to medical programmes, which provides you with a glimpse of what it's like to work in the medical sector and the many different roles that a hospital needs to be able to function and save lives on a daily basis. Watching real life medical programmes and documentaries allows you to grasp the sheer amount of work that is undertaken within a hospital and how important everyone's part is to play. Watching these programmes makes me want to be a part of this career so much more, making a difference to peoples lives on a daily basis.

For my work experience, I decided to work with animals, caring for animals is also a nurturing job role that takes patience and a loving nature. I had to perform tasks during my work experience including, cleaning of the animals and their surroundings, feeding the animals and making sure the animals were recovering well and were comfortable. It helped me to develop my nurturing side and allowed me to learn how cautious I need to be around medications and medical procedures.

I also got the amazing opportunity to be able to assist in some medical procedures, One of the procedures was inserting an IV tube into an animal, making sure that there were no air bubbles that became trapped in the tube, which could be really dangerous to the animal. These procedures are used not only in veterinary hospitals but also in other medical settings such as a hospital.

I also worked as a sales assistant which has given me a valuable experience of working with people and how to assist their needs. Whilst working at my job, I have developed effective communication skills and good working relationships with team members. I have also had experience in waitressing, which taught me to be fast working and taught me to multitask, which are good qualities that will be needed working in a fast-paced environment.

For my most recent education I have just finished sixth-form at West Lakes Academy, I studied A levels in Health and Socia Care, Information Technology and Fine Art.
