Ivaylo Dimitrov

A self-starting, highly motivated and enthusiastic individual, who has graduated with a Beng degree in Mechanical Engineering from Coventry University. Completing this degree has given me valuable knowledge in: generating engineering specifications from customer requirements, proficient with Solidworks or similar CAD Design packages, producing designs and drawings to ISO standards (BS8888), modelling and testing computer models.

My greatest asset is my ability to quickly learn and put into practice new information.

Mechanical Engineer at Q-Bot Nov. 2021 – Present 

During my time at Q-Bot on a temporary contract (but with 5 working days), I have performed the following work related activities and responsibilities:

• Used CAD (Solidworks) to design prototypes, test jigs and new parts needed for manufacturing;
• Developed and implemented design strategies;
• Modified existing metal work and created new parts from aluminium using CNC (has a mini mill) and used CAM (Fusion360), while designing and creating test / production jigs;
• Used 3D printing to create prototypes of designs for rapid iteration and created 3D printed parts for producing robots;
• Worked to tight deadlines to manufacture prototypes / batches of robots;
• Wrote performance reports, created testing manuals and production instruction;
• Have led a team of workers to manufacture designs and collaborated with other engineers of different specialisations to optimise simultaneous tasks;
• Made recommendations to improve robustness of designs, which later on improved the manufacturing process of prototypes;
• Contacted manufacturing companies for production quotes, keeping track of stock levels for current production parts and ordered more as needed, while receiving and inspecting incoming parts to ensure they match to engineering drawings / numbers ordered;
• Attended design review meetings, daily stand up meetings and keeping clear constant lines of communication with mentors and superiors;
• Followed Health and Safety guidelines in the workshop, while being trained on manual and CNC mills, as well as using a wide range of hand tools.

Mechanical Engineer at Uprooted Farms Apr. 2021 – Oct. 2021

A 6 month placement working alongside industry experts running simulations, data analysis and improving designs using engineering software. Performed the ‘‘nuts and bolts’’ of engineering designing parts for 3D printing, reworking designs and implementing them into various projects including CAD designs for a new manufacturing plant.
