I'm a young and ambitious student looking to further my skillset and to gain work experience. I already have very many skills and am looking to gain even more skills for my future legal career. I am particularly looking for any experience within law firms in order to help with gaining transferable skills and a much stronger employable profile.
During my college studies and the first semester of my university law course, I developed strong digital skills through regular use of software. I used Microsoft Word to produce well-structured essays for my BTEC Psychology coursework and university law modules. I have also used Microsoft PowerPoint to design and produce a five-minute podcast presentation for a law module which I was able to get a decent grade on. I have also used Microsoft Excel to create a bar chart for my psychology module.
Throughout my education I took part in several group projects that required teamwork and clear communication. These projects involved coordinating with classmates outside of lesson time, discussing ideas and dividing responsibilities to ensure tasks were completed efficiently. By planning our approach and working together to organise our research and presentation material, our group was able to completely deliver a full presentation within an extremely short period of time while maintaining a clear and structured presentation.
My studies have required me to adapt quickly methods of learning. For example, I learned to apply both the Harvard and Oxford referencing systems when writing essays, ensuring that all sources were cited accurately and to academic standards. I have also adapted to using various legal resources such as Westlaw and lexis (both services provided by the university of Reading). I also use the large university library of books to research and cite sources.
