I am a very reliable hardworking individual with a passion to learn new skills. I have a very bubbly character and am also a polite and punctual worker who is comfortable interacting with people in any environment due to working in the customer service sector at the age of 16, so have no problem showing enthusiasm during any interaction. I also worked at an Equestrian centre for many years from the age of 12 and therefore also can guide people of differing ages whether they be a parent of a child.
I also have a very keen eye for the finer details and never like half a job being done and always love putting 100% effort into my work. I am also very hard working since I have volunteered at a boy’s brigade camp so have no issue with manual labour.
As of 2021 I decided to purchase my own horse which has allowed me to be a lot more practical and hands on with my work, plus it has allowed me to learn how to organise my time and enhance the skills I have learnt from the diploma I completed at Hartpury College as well as everything I have learnt from working at the horse-riding school, I have also gained valuable in depth knowledge throughout my degree about equine behaviour and training to promote their welfare which is something I have always been passionate about. I was also able to gain more workplace skills by completing a year long work placement where I was able to partake in a variety of things throughout my time at Hartpury Equine Events.
WORK PLACEMENT AT HARTPURY EQUINE EVENTS (From Sept 2022 - Sept 2023)
In between the second and third year of my degree I undertook a placement year whereby I began work at Hartpury Equine Events. This was an events administration role that involved taking competition entries and sending out email correspondence when necessary, planning, running, and setting up the events themselves on a weekly basis as well as creating graphics and promotional material for the major summer events also. I also aided with the administration of the college riding horses which involved contacting clients and inputting information about each horse into the filing system, this was mostly done on Microsoft Excel.
I also had the role of taking meeting minutes whenever necessary.
(During University Placement)
Whilst working at Hartpury I also had the opportunity to help in some Equine assisted learning sessions that needed facilitators and handlers for the horse. This involved handling the horses around the children (many of which with additional learning needs or disabilities) and showing them safely how to care for and handle the horses during several different guided activities. This gave me experience in equine assisted therapy which is an area I have gained enthusiasm for throughout my degree and helped develop my skills around working with people especially people and children with special needs or disabilities.
