Jack Gardner

Jack Gardner is a recent BSc Psychology with Clinical Approaches graduate from the University of Sussex. He completed a professional placement year as a Student Analyst with the Department of Health and Social Care in the academic year 2022/23. He has developed strong academic writing, critical thinking, and communication skills through his degree, placement year, and part-time roles. He is looking for graduate opportunities as a research assistant or data analyst.

Co-author, Frontiers for Young Minds Publication, Jul 2024 – to date

• I am currently co-writing an article on a topic in psychology with my undergraduate dissertation supervisor, which will be submitted to Frontiers for Young Minds for publication (in progress)

• Updated and distributed the team’s key outputs/products, including weekly and monthly urgent/emergency care performance statistics dashboards
• Undertook a large project independently during Winter 22 to overhaul front and back-end of the team’s dashboards, with a focus on developing new metrics and refining the presentation/design
• Developed excellent verbal communication skills by presenting A&E performance statistics to key colleagues, stakeholders, and ministers at fortnightly data-stand up meetings

Catering Assistant, Be Seasoned Venues, Sep 2021 – Jun 2022/Sep 2023 – to date

• Used good verbal communication skills to deliver excellent service to customers and reliably support my colleagues whilst working within a busy and challenging environment
• Worked well in a team to serve a large number of customers during short interval windows, showcasing my ability to operate under pressure
• Able to work independently, trusted to supervise bars/catering outlets in the absence of a manager

• Annually volunteer to help young people affected by cancer rebuild their confidence through sailing
• As a travel volunteer, assist young people with travel to and from sailing trips
