QA Automation Engineer - Forfront
(2024-01)
Joined as a Software Testing Apprentice in 2024, promoted to Software Tester in March 2025 and to QA Automation Engineer later that year.
- Re-engineered the company's automation testing, spearheaded the migration from Mabl to TestCafe. Cut regression effort by over half and removed recurring licence costs.
- Wired the suite into Jenkins for fail-fast CI/CD execution, and packaged it so developers can run it locally against their own changes before check-in.
- Work alongside a manual test lead as the sole automation engineer, covering functional, regression, API and exploratory testing across releases.
- Devised the severity ranking system the team uses to quantify defect risk and agree priority between QA and development.
- Raise defects backed by evidence from automation runs and manual testing, including reproduction steps, logs and failing test output, so developers can act without a round trip.
- Take part in daily standups, refinement and sprint planning, and support retrospectives with analytics built from Jira and release-cycle data.
- Built a live in-house QA portal used across the business: configurable test runs, defect and manual-run trend analysis, and per-developer visibility of tickets and defects.
- Implemented Xray for Jira as the test management layer, standardising test design and traceability, and integrated the GitLab and Jira APIs into a single quality reporting view.
- Added automated accessibility testing with axe, and am currently extending coverage into performance testing with k6.
