Jada Okedare

I am currently a second-year student at the University of Nottingham, studying Pharmacy (MPharm). I find the course very interesting and I hope to work in the pharmaceutical industry after my pre-registration year. I have worked in a community pharmacy for three summers, which has enhanced my drug knowledge and greatly helped me in my first year of university. I also took a medicines counter and dispensing course, which improved my understanding of medicines and community pharmacy.

Medicines Counter Assistant - Springfield Pharmacy

• Dispense, file away and process prescriptions.
• Answer queries on the telephone.
• Put stock away, give advice to patients and manage electronic prescriptions.

Work shadowing - Wheatfield GP Surgery

(2022-01 - 2022-12)

• It allowed me to understand the different job roles at a GP practice and that the main goal is to listen to people's worries and help them as much as possible.
• There was a palliative care meeting consisting of a GP and two nurses where they discussed their fellow patients.

Work shadowing - Bramwell Dental Practice

(2023-01 - 2023-12)

• At the reception desk, I sorted files of patients & their radiographs and witnessed an X-ray done on teeth.
• Job roles at a dental practice: receptionist, dentist, head dental nurse, owner, assistant dental nurse.
• Different procedures: denture, scale & polish, crown filling, white filling, silver filling, impression.

Active Living Ambassador - University of Nottingham

(2024-01)

• Engage with university student on campus, encouraging them to do sports activities in their downtime.
• Optional so it is natural and easy-going.
• Badminton, darts, yoga, bachata dance classes and football challenges.
