General farm worker - Major farming

For three years, I have worked as a calf rearer and a relief milker on a large dairy farm. This involved starting the day at 5:30am to milk cows twice a day or to tend to the calves, including feeding, cleaning and daily maintenance. I worked as part of a large team developing strong communication and teamwork skills.
This position required me to work in a fast-paced, early start environment, requiring strict hygiene, time-sensitive routines, attention to detail and a strong work ethic. In addition, I was involved in farm tours, in which I showed groups of people around the farm, allowed people to get involved and I also did some of the catering for these events.
General farm worker - Hudgill Farm - Pennines

I spent 2 weeks straight working on a hill farm in the Pennines in which I demonstrated a strong work ethic by working many hours on my feet each day. I learnt on the job fast and was soon given more responsibilities with the independence and trust to complete them.
Pole picker - Eland Lodge

In this profession, I had to be adept at rapid decision making under pressure while communicating non-verbally with both my colleagues and the public. My job was to quickly reset jumping arenas when poles were knocked down and to help the general flow of traffic with competitors by directing them to the arena and answering any queries. This was a public facing role in which I had to work rapidly without disrupting the public and their horses.
Groom - Rockstar Equestrian

In this position, I lead horses for young children during their riding lessons, ensuring safety and clear communication with the riding instructor. In between riding lessons, I was responsible for stable cleaning and the daily upkeep of some of the horses on the yard, including their feed and water. In addition, I have stewarded at various equestrian show events in which I interacted with the public to answer their queries and solved their problems.
