Trainee Hire Controller - Wernick Hire - Dundee

As a Trainee Hire Controller at Wernick Hire, I support the day-to-day management of the hire process, ensuring customers receive the equipment and service they need efficiently. My role involves handling customer enquiries, processing hire requests, coordinating deliveries and collections, and maintaining accurate records using the company's hire management systems. I work closely with customers, drivers, engineers, and depot staff to ensure equipment is available, delivered on time, and returned smoothly.
I also assist with preparing quotations, managing contracts, resolving customer queries, and ensuring all administrative tasks are completed accurately while following company procedures. Throughout my role, I am developing strong organisational, communication, and customer service skills, as well as gaining experience in logistics, scheduling, and the commercial aspects of the hire industry. I am committed to providing excellent customer service and contributing to the efficient operation of the depot.

I started this job working as a nightshift Customer Service Assistant, my duties involved stacking shelves, cleaning the shop floor and the toilets. I was then further trained to work the café which gave me additional duties of baking pastries, doughnuts and cooking hot food like sausage rolls, turnovers etc. I was then moved across to dayshift 3 months later.
The responsibilities in this role were basic customer service skills such as serving behind the tills, taking peoples orders for the Wild Bean Café, taking and completing store deliveries, counting the tills and making sure the float is correct. Meanwhile keeping a sharp eye out on the forecourt when authorising pumps for any suspicious activities and that the customers were following the health and safety standards of the station.

In this role I would take many calls from customers regarding their Tesco.com delivery and click and collect. My duties included being presentable to customers, speaking clearly over the phone and understanding the customers issue through my listening skills so I can resolve it. I would give customers refunds and reschedule orders. I would then further need to get in touch with stores to confirm what is happening with the customer's order and find the quickest solution.

In this role I worked on the shop floor and behind the counter. It was a very fast environment where speed was required while delivering quality.
