James Fairclough

I am a final year geography undergraduate currently undergoing a three-year human geography course. My choice of study has led my academic focus to centre on sustainability and geopolitics as well as issues of humanitarianism and international development. I have a keen and long standing interest in the field of human geography, which is driven by a deep curiosity for the subject as well as the desire to apply my geographical background in a professional setting and offer a valued contribution to any prospective organisation.

Previous experience working with companies such as Legal and General Modular Homes and Ratcliffe Building and Maintenance has given me an insight into how teamwork, strong communication and organisational skills will benefit my role for a future employer and inform my approach to work.

Work Experience at Legal and General Modular Homes Ltd (2021-07 – 2021-07)

• Attended employee induction in order to gain an in depth view of company values, policy and workplace expectations
• Designed various graphics for use in documenting and identifying equipment
• Shadowing various employees within the legal and human resources department in order to develop an understanding of company procedures, workplace dynamics and day to day operations

Work Experience at Ratcliffe Building and Maintenance Ltd (2019-05 – 2019-05)

• Gave a presentation to the board of directors regarding the company website and social media presence with further developments and improvement recommendations
• Updated company website and social media platforms with news of recent and upcoming projects, prioritising effective presentation and attention to detail
• Conducted visits to live sites for the purpose of photographing key locations and features of interest for use on company website and social media platforms
• Updated social media profiles of various Ratcliffe Building & Maintenance employees
• Shadowed and assisted with various employees in order to gain a hands-on understanding of company operations and procedure
