Engineering Manager — Mobile Platforms & Server-Driven UI at Deliveroo (DoorDash) (2025-10 – Present)
- Lead a team of 8 engineers building the server-driven UI (SDUI) platform, having delivered its integration with DoorDash's systems on time — now the main front-end stack for DoorDash, Wolt and Deliveroo, used by 150+ engineers (up from ~50).
- Enable product teams to ship UI changes to production in under 2 hours — versus ~2 weeks for a standard native release — and to A/B test UI through integration with DoorDash's experimentation platform.
- Shape the team through hands-on people management — hiring a Staff Engineer, proactively managing out an underperformer, and replacing a remote contractor with an engineer from another team.
Head of Engineering, Mobile Platform at HSBC (2019-10 – 2025-10)
- Owned the architecture and delivery of the mobile engineering platform used by iOS and Android teams to build experiences deployed across all HSBC consumer markets, serving 20M+ customers.
- Led the app simplification programme end-to-end — partnering with business stakeholders to build the case and secure buy-in, working with senior ICs to define scope, and steering multiple engineering teams to deliver.
- Cut cold-start time from 4s to 2.8s on iOS and 6s to 3.5s on Android and reduced Android and iOS app size by 60%, establishing AppDynamics telemetry, performance dashboards and regression detection where none had existed, and embedding performance tests into release governance.
- Built the firm's mobile CI/CD platform — CloudBees CI (99.5% availability) and CloudBees CD release orchestration across 1,000+ repositories — and ran a Release on Demand programme that increased release frequency from monthly/quarterly to fortnightly while preserving governance and quality gates.
- Led large-scale platform engineering programmes serving 800+ mobile engineers across the bank's value-stream teams, and owned KTLO for the mobile platform underpinning the estate.
- Owned architecture governance and code-quality standards firm-wide, and partnered with architecture and product to re-platform the core mobile app on Redux — enabling the delivery of HSBC's new app in 2025.
- Grew and globalised the org from a 20-engineer London team to 100 engineers across Poland, India and China — hiring of 2 staff engineers (iOS and Android) and an engineering manager in each hub.
