I gained employment as a forklift driver for huhtamaki working a continental shift pattern of 12 hour day and nights. My responsibilities included using a counterbalance forklift and a heavy duty reel turner in a safe and efficient manner to load and unload deliveries and stocking palletised items into drive-in racking, preparing and organising deliveries, locating and stocking items using computers and warehouse scanners, completing material orders to complete job contracts, using a computer to book in deliveries and schedule outgoing deliveries, communicating across multiple departments to ensure and maintain a quality product to our customers as well as a safe and efficient working environment. I also used a ride on forklift when circumstances deemed it necessary. I carried out stocktaking duties based on a rota system. I worked as part of a 3 person team under 2 team leaders but there were many times I was left alone to work for long periods.
