After finishing my time at McVities I took the opportunity to travel and work abroad. I spent the year hitch-hiking around the North and South islands of New Zealand, living in my tent for the majority of the time. This experience improved my planning and organisation skills.

As I mainly stayed in rural areas my employment included labouring on orchards and farms. Although the work was physically and mentally challenging I enjoyed the experience and I continued to be appreciative of having the opportunity to work and the rewards it brought. In between jobs I spent most of my time pursuing my passion for the outdoors, hiking and biking, and I took part in many high-adrenaline sports.

Travelling was an incredible experience allowing me to experience another culture, meet people and work in a variety of environments.
