I am currently doing an integrated master's in environmental studies with the Open University. I have a Level 3 extended diploma in animal management from Bishop Burton College. I have done health and social care in school, for which I got a level 2. I wish to work with animals in an animal care setting. I have done volunteer work in various placements since 2017.
I have been a support worker for mental health and learning difficulties since 2019

In these 2 years of work experience, I worked with a variety of animals and cleaned enclosures for birds, small furries, and ducks. I also spent a week at the manager's animal sanctuary, which they owned, that had rheas, goats and cows. Whilst I was working here for work experience, I was shown how to measure out food supplies for animals and how to use the cash register to serve customers.
Animal assistant at The Jungle Zoo (2018-09 – 2018-11)
I did just over a month's worth of work experience at The Jungle Zoo in Cleethorpes, which was required for my college course. Whilst I was at Jungle Zoo, I was required to work with armadillos, meerkats, pigs, reptiles, birds of various species, and I got to work with sugar gliders and small furries. This entailed veg and meal prep for the animals, cleaning enclosures.
Pet shop Assistant manager at Monarch pets (2019-08 – 2022-10)
In this role, I completed my level 2 in animal management to validate my level 3. Whilst I was here, I fed, cleaned and watered a variety of animals, including a pig, a ferret, some barn owls, a variety of birds, small furries, and I did dog training and walking of dogs being prepared for adoption. I was also a customer assistant, so I was required to answer phones and sell feeds, treats and animals.
I was in charge of teaching other work experience people how to do the deep cleans, spot cleans and how to monitor our breeding animals' health. I was required to place orders for deliveries, and I was also in charge of bagging up pet supplies and unpacking live food.
Kennel Assistant at Bishop Burton college (2017-09 – 2019-05)
During my time at bishop burton, we were required to be on kennel duties for a few weeks in each of our 2 years studying animal management. Here, I had to walk dogs, prep their food, do basic grooming, and clean the dog kennels.
