I have a certificate in phlebotomy and training in cannulation with a post graduate degree in occupational health, safety and environmental management. I also have a Bachelor's Degree in Analytical chemistry, Biochemistry and a higher national Diploma in science laboratory technology. I have also acquired relevant training in various areas of health to update my skills and knowledge.

I seek a challenging position in a team environment where I can contribute my experience and skill. It is my desire to use my knowledge and skills in an organization to bring optimal safety to clients and working colleagues, promote safety measures and regulations in the company and also to further improve upon myself as a professional.

Day to day activities

• Cleaning of Laboratory workstations and sterilization
• Preparation of reagents; i.e. Sickling and blood film reagent
• Collection of samples and pre sample preparation for microbiological analysis
• Daily review of phlebotomy equipment and follow up to procure equipment from employers
• Taking of blood samples from clients into various vacutainer tubes for further investigations
• Cannulation of infants and adults for intravenous infusions and medication

Day to day activities

• Identification of patient against identification band, date of birth and full name
• Vivid explanation of procedure to client and seek verbal or written consent and reassure client
• Sanitize the treatment area, lay out sterile equipment and selection of appropriate specimen tubes for specific tests
• Evaluate patient physically to select correct vein for sample collection
• Application of immediate pressure to entry site with cotton pad and dress the area to ensure clotting and prevent bruising
• Label sample exactly according to clients details, date and time directly after extracting the sample
• Store samples at correct ambient temperatures and arrange prompt transit to laboratory via hand delivery
• Discard contaminated sharps, used needles and medical wastes into high grade bio waste bins according to strict health and infection control rules
