About
Mechanical Engineering graduate with hands-on experience in materials testing, mechanical design and data analysis. Currently working as a Materials Testing Technician where I primarily test samples from welded oil pipelines. With skills in SolidWorks, AutoCAD and technical reporting, and a practical and analytical approach to engineering.
Experience
Materials Testing Technician - Element Materials Technology - Aberdeen
(2026-03)
- Carry out mechanical testing of metallic material samples, cut and machined from welded oil pipelines in a fracture and fatigue laboratory, assessing material performance and failure behaviour
- Set up and ran servo-hydraulic test rigs for fracture and fatigue testing, troubleshooting equipment faults and fine-tuning set-ups so results were accurate and repeatable
- Prepare and inspect specimens against engineering standards, checking dimensions, orientation and defects
- Interpret load, displacement and crack-growth data, applying engineering knowledge to investigate unexpected results
- Maintain detailed technical records and work with engineers to deliver test data to clients
Summer Intern - Clearwell Technology - Aberdeen
- Gained exposure to engineering design, testing, research and manufacturing while working in a start-up who were making a new novel oil well decommissioning technology that primarily used thermal lances
- Shadowed planning and development from concept through to manufacture – learning the ins and outs of the company
- Worked in the workshop where the prototypes of this technology were built, as well as on the test rig where different iterations of it were tested
- Used CAD software to aid in designing prototypes
Further experience gained across construction, hospitality, and retail environments. Where I learned great people skills and to work hard.
