I am an experienced foster carer with over five years' experience supporting children, young people, and families through a wide range of challenges. Throughout my career and personal experiences, I have always been drawn to roles that focus on providing practical and emotional support, helping individuals to feel heard, understood, and empowered.
My life experiences have helped me develop strong personal qualities, including resilience, empathy, patience, and excellent listening skills. I pride myself on building trusting relationships and supporting people to explore their options, access appropriate services, and find solutions that meet their individual needs. I understand the importance of advocating for those who may struggle to have their voices heard and am passionate about ensuring people are treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.
As a foster carer, I have worked closely with professionals from a variety of agencies, advocating for the needs of the children in my care while supporting them to navigate often complex situations. This has strengthened my communication, problem-solving, and collaborative working skills, as well as my ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
I am now seeking a part-time advocacy role where I can apply my experience, interpersonal skills, and genuine desire to help others make a positive difference in people's lives. I am looking for a position that offers flexibility to work alongside my ongoing fostering and caring commitments, while allowing me to continue supporting individuals to have their voices heard and access the support they need.
I am an experienced foster carer with over five years' experience supporting children and young people. Prior to fostering, I worked as a Pastoral Support Worker, where I provided guidance and support to young people, helping them to overcome challenges and achieve positive outcomes. I also volunteered as an Independent Visitor, building positive, consistent relationships with children in care and providing them with encouragement and emotional support.
In addition to my experience working with children and families, I have a background in the hospitality industry, where I worked as a Duty Manager. This role equipped me with strong leadership, people management, communication, and organisational skills, as well as the ability to remain calm and effective in fast-paced, demanding environments. I gained valuable experience managing teams, resolving issues, and delivering high standards of customer service while balancing multiple priorities.
Together, these roles have given me a broad range of transferable skills, including empathy, resilience, active listening, problem-solving, and the ability to build positive relationships with people from diverse backgrounds. I am passionate about supporting others and am now looking to use my experience in an advocacy role, where I can empower individuals, ensure their voices are heard, and help them access the support they need.
