As part of my employment with the Leisure section of Durham County Council, I have experience with a variety of tasks - including customer service, ICT work, daily running of facilities, reception, answering telephone inquiries and administrative work - and have worked with customers from all walks of life, including university and college students, youth, the elderly. I have also had a great working experience with colleagues and developed strong interpersonal skills and communication skills. I have shown commitment and initiative in acquiring and building upon new skills, including National Pool Lifeguard Qualification, Level 2 Gym Instructors Qualification, Level 1 Swimming Instructor, First Aid qualifications, and Level 2 Swimming Instructor course.
I have experience working on poolside as a lifeguard and swimming-teacher, cleaning, setting up activities, working in the Gym with customer-oriented and facility running tasks, and working behind the front desk dealing with customer inquiries, telephone calls, financial transactions, and IT systems. Understanding the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 has been integral to my positions. I have shown motivation towards achieving my own goals and targets by achieving creditable exam results at GCSE and A-Level.

Level 2 Swimming Instructor course. Worked as part of the team, especially during staff training. Early morning shifts require the team to ensure the leisure centre is ready for opening with all team members working together and communicating to ensure this is done efficiently and effectively.
Experience working on poolside as a lifeguard and swimming-teacher, cleaning at poolside and setting up activities such as inflatable sessions, Rafts & Floats and University water-polo. Worked with the university water-polo team and coaches to effectively co-operate and communicate to prepare the pool for practice and matches. Worked in the Gym gaining knowledge of customer-oriented tasks such as gym inductions and programmes, as well as day-to-day running of the facility such as cleaning tasks and end-of-day logs.
Worked behind the front desk with the reception team dealing with customer inquiries, answering telephone calls, taking and recording financial transactions, and managing online booking and data IT systems. Worked with line manager and duty officers carrying out filing and administrative tasks. Monthly staff training regularly covers health and safety issues.
Completed work regarding risk assessments in pool and gym environments, identifying hazards and safe disposal of sharps and needles. Aimed to help and motivate others to achieve targets. Working knowledge of Durham County Council ICT systems and digital communication.
Worked extra shifts and outside of normal office hours with shifts involving starting at 6am and others finishing at 11pm. Willing to travel and worked and trained in Durham City, Shildon, Peterlee, Bishop Auckland and Stanley.
