I have been an active member of our multi-national and multi-cultural Community where we live and have been a member of our Residents' Committee. I have also organised several Community events and festivals.
My interests include walking, reading,theatre, cinema, concerts, art galleries, museums and visits to botanical gardens. I also enjoy travel through the UK and Europe.
My teaching career began in 1977 as a Year 6 class teacher in a primary school in Farnham, Surrey where I taught for one year. Having worked on a few Summer Camps for young foreign students (aged 8 to 18), I was invited by the proprietors to administer and organise materials and courses to develop their scope of provision for one year in 1978/79. In September 1979, I was appointed teacher of EFL in L'Ecole Jacques Prévert, Hammersmith where I taught for 5 years.
In 1984, I undertook a similar role at the Lycée Francais Charles de Gaulle in South Kensington. I was appointed Head of Primary English in 2002 and had a team of 16 teachers in 4 annexes. I was responsible for the management of the curriculum, assessments, appointments and training and the general organisation and well-being of both staff and students.
I created and coordinated all assessments and supervised the marking and grading.
