Nights Shift Manager - Morrison's Logistics

- Responsible for whole Ambient operation including a team of 5 Managers (Pick, goods in, loading, all FLT functions)
- As the most senior Manager on site during the night I am accountable for the operation performing and safely achieving targets set for the shift.
- Accountable for achieving KPI's and mitigation to be given if failed
- Regular weekly and 2 weekly performance meetings and annual objective review meetings with my Team Managers
- Make sure regular annual training refreshers are up to date
- Budget control of all departments assuring of no overspend or reason given if any
- Conduct disciplinary hearing issuing up to Final written warnings, hold appeal hearings and grievances
- Managing daily and weekly cost budgets
- At one point I was responsible for the running of the ambient and fresh chamber, managing over 100 colleagues and up to 8 Managers per night, whilst we were recruiting for another Shift Manager.
Team Manager - Morrison's manufacturing/Logistics

- Completed a 12 week secondment to implement a performance management tool across both days and night shift. Increasing pick productivity performance by 20%
- Also seconded to the role of shift manager in absence of current shift manager between March 19 - April 19. Carry out detailed handovers to oncoming shift managers. Conducted mop up meetings following Fire/Ammonia alarm evacuations plus be accountable for the whole operation including up to 90 colleagues.
- Hold listening groups with colleagues for process improvement ideas.
- Daily Management of my team, receiving of goods, picking and loading product to store – ensuring pick rates are to at least company standard
- Deliver Shift briefs laying out daily targets and expectations plus any business announcements
- Ensuring that all staffing levels are correct including permanent staff and flexible work force for between 65 – 70 per shift
- Ensuring we adhere to QC standards e.g. shelf life dates and correct temperature storage
- Drive and promote H&S standards across site
- Carry out accident investigations, conduct disciplinary hearings and RTW's
- Cost control and achievement of site KPI's
- Internal communications to other depots/stores to discuss any potential issues
- Ensuring that all daily and weekly reports are completed to HR regarding people and Operations Manager relating to operational performance on nights.
Shift manager - XPO Logistics

- Had a team of 7 team managers reporting to me on a daily basis
- Be accountable for overseeing the whole warehouse operation covering Pick, pack, sortation and despatch within an E-commerce operation.
- Report to Ops manager with shift plans on what we aim to achieve on shift.
- Be accountable for everybody's H&S and wellbeing on site
- Carry out investigations both for accidents/incidents or lateness and absence.
- Sit DP meetings
- Manage shift manning accordingly to suit shift targets
- Give efficient handovers to oncoming shifts of where we are up to and any important briefs to be given out.
- Conduct shift briefs giving out expectations and important information.
- Motivate team Managers in order to get the best out of them and their team.
- Whilst in my role as shift manager I was involved in the UK delivery go live after only originally delivering to Belgium. This saw a large increase in daily volume from around 8,000 a day to 60,000 rising to 80,000+ within a very high paced and demanding environment with 5 collections a day.
First Line Manager - DHL – Sainsbury's

- Manage and be accountable for the staff in the picking departments and Inbound department up to 70 colleagues
- Monitor all figures to make sure KPI targets are met on an hourly and shift basis via a WMS
- Attend the shift brief and discuss targets for the shift and come up with solutions for any problems that occurred.
- Conduct Shift Briefs briefing out target information to all departmental colleagues
- Manage staff absence by conducting return to work, and holding welfare meetings with colleagues.
- Work within strict Health and safety guidelines in order to reduce accidents and keep the site target.
- Complete visual 5S boards updating using the traffic light system log all target BSI Performance activity hourly.
- Implement and work to strict process Improvement targets and display on the Process improvement boards (5S)
- Sit disciplinary meeting and give out decisions up to and including final written warnings and on occasions be a note taker
- Performance manage colleagues on a shift basis weekly and monthly basis according to performance tracker
- Sign off holidays for colleagues after checking the availability of the dates and making sure manning levels stay correct

- Check all staff have arrived at work and follow up any absences, report final numbers to shift leader
- Handover with previous shift supervisor
- Briefing meeting with onsite management team at shift brief
- Performance Manage all underperforming colleagues via coaching or retrain

- 2 hours manual picking (Involvement in onsite efficiently targets)
