Food policy expert with in depth experience of policy development in both health, sustainability and food poverty. Areas of expertise include commodity supply chains, food taxation, regulation on unhealthy food, nutrient profiling models, deforestation, landscape initiatives and mechanisms to support individuals struggling to afford food.
I have experience in both industry and government. Particular achievements include helping to write the National Food Strategy, an independent review into the food system where I led the development of the recommendation for a salt and sugar tax, developing a policy to secure and distribute £67 million to people struggling to afford food and other essentials during the Covid-19 pandemic and overseeing the delivery of Sainsbury's target to be deforestation and conversion free by 2025.
