I am a highly motivated, dedicated, and hardworking individual who recently completed a Master's degree in Biomedical and Molecular Science. I am also an associate practitioner who has gained quality experience including excellent technical skills within the histopathology laboratory. Competency has been attained in specimen reception, meticulously flagging discrepancies, embedding, microtomy, staining, quality control on blocks and slides, microscopy, and troubleshooting. I have also been able to demonstrate efficiency in all tasks within the pathology laboratory and I will be delighted to deploy these skills in performing tasks within your organization.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Specimen reception: Responsible for performing specimen reception and identification of discrepancies.
• Assist pathologist during tissue cut-up by taking dictation and labeling or scribing of cassettes.
• Competent in tissue processing.
• Embedding: Performing embedding of different tissue types by applying the right orientation techniques.
• Microtomy: Performing quality sections using manual or semi-automatic microtome competently.
• Staining: Carry out staining using both manual and automated methods. Also performed Hematoxylin and Eosin (H & E) staining according to the laboratory's standard operating procedure.
• Quality control: Performing quality control checks on H&E stained slides such as checking for full face, mislabeling, lifting, scores, folds, carry-over, etc.
• Pathologist request: Responsible for section cutting cases from the pathologists such as further levels, immunohistochemistry etc.
• Capturing data on LIMS
