I currently work at Wellington Vale care home in Waterlooville and have for the past 9 years. I predominantly work as a housekeeper however spend 2 days a week in the laundry department. I manage my time effectively and proactively prioritising duties throughout the day. This role requires effective communication with colleagues, residents, families, and external professionals visiting the home.
Vale provides residential, respite, and nursing care which has enabled me to develop strong communication skills when communicating with individuals with a wide range of needs and abilities. I understand the importance of maintaining positive, respectful, and professional relationships. I have good knowledge of safeguarding, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all residents and staff.
My experience in both roles has helped me build a range of skills, and I'm now looking for a laundry assistant position to continue learning and developing.
Housekeeper / Laundry Assistant at Wellington Vale care home (2015-01 – Present)
I predominantly work as a housekeeper however spend 2 days a week in the laundry department. Within my role I am responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness across the home, including residents' bedrooms, bathrooms, dining areas, and all other communal spaces. When working in the laundry department, I am responsible for washing residents clothing in line with care guidelines, following specific washing instructions, and ensuring items are correctly separated and returned to the appropriate person.
I also ensure all clothing is cleaned and ironed to a high standard. Throughout both roles, I adhere to COSHH regulations to ensure safe handling, storage, and use of cleaning products.
