As a driven, confident and popular employee I feel I work well within a team environment. In my previous career I learnt a lot of skills. Working within a team and getting along with others whilst remaining focussed on the job in hand.
I work well when given deadlines and make sure I focus on even the smallest detail when necessary. I can produce detailed reports and input data efficiently under time pressures. My previous role was never the same from one day to the next so I can show great flexibility dealing with changes and am happy when working with others as well as on my own.
I have often been in situations where I have to use my own initiative when faced with decisions, and I cope well with this but also enjoy making decisions as part of a team. I work well with groups of people and I listen well, as I feel you can always learn from people's experiences and help them learn by sharing your own. In my previous role I would regularly work in different places and I would have to adapt to new environments, I enjoyed the variety this would bring to my working day.
As a manager during my previous career, I had to make a lot of decisions, some of which people didn't always agree with. I would have to prepare rotas for my staff based on availability, staff preferences and staff strengths but still making sure the business needs were met. On a weekly basis staff would put pressure on me to devise my rota in a particular way.
I would have to identify these issues with the staff and in order to overcome these issues I would meet with staff individually to talk to them and help resolve their concerns and talk them through my decisions. I found this allowed them to air their concerns and accept the decision rather than there be a bad feeling within the team. I feel I am able to resolve issues quickly and efficiently and I always strive to make sure all business needs are always met.
I enjoy a demanding role, and thrive in busy situations where I am meeting new people. I am physically fit and hold a full UK driving licence.
Literacy & Library Support - The Burgess Hill Academy - Burgess Hill
(2024-07)
I have really enjoyed embarking on a career working within the School environment and with young people. I embraced my role as Librarian and have spent a long time restoring order into the School Library. My role also includes working within the classroom on a 121 basis with neurodiverse students.
This involves me getting to know the students, building trust and finding the best way to help them achieve their potential. I enjoy this side of my role and feel I make a difference as the students not only enjoy coming to lessons I am in, they come and find me during break times to talk about their day and share their thoughts. I have enjoyed learning new skills and have completed many courses during my time at the Academy.
I am looking to reduce my working hours which is why I am looking to leave my current position.
