I am a motivated Psychology graduate currently undertaking an MSc in Applied Clinical Psychology, with a strong commitment to pursuing a career as an Assistant Psychologist. Through a combination of academic study and practical experience, I have developed a solid foundation in psychological theory alongside hands-on skills in supporting individuals with complex mental health, developmental, and behavioural needs. In my current roles as a Residential Support Worker and EMI Care Assistant, I work closely with individuals experiencing trauma, dementia, and emotional dysregulation.
These roles have strengthened my ability to build therapeutic relationships, apply trauma-informed approaches, and use de-escalation strategies effectively. I regularly contribute to monitoring mental state, managing risk, and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, which has enhanced my understanding of person-centred and evidence-based care. My voluntary experience has further shaped my psychological insight and interpersonal skills.
Supporting children with additional needs at a specialist camp required patience, adaptability, and consistent emotional support, while my work in offender rehabilitation provided exposure to the challenges of reintegration and the importance of psychological resilience and social support systems. Additionally, my experience teaching English in a rural community in Ghana developed my cultural competence, communication skills, and ability to adapt interventions to meet diverse needs in low-resource settings. I am particularly interested in Assistant Psychologist roles as they provide the opportunity to contribute to assessments, interventions, and research within a clinical setting while working under the supervision of qualified psychologists.
I am eager to further develop my skills in psychological formulation, data collection, and delivering evidence-based interventions. I am a reflective, empathetic, and resilient individual who is passionate about improving mental health outcomes and promoting wellbeing. I am confident that my academic background, combined with my diverse practical experience, equips me with the skills and motivation to make a meaningful contribution to a clinical team.
