• Regularly taking charge of 17-bedded ward, overseeing bed management, staffing levels, delegating work and supervising staff accordingly, and dealing with queries and complaints from patients or relatives.
• Assessed, planned, implemented care to patients, working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure safe and effective care.
• Trained and skilled in venepuncture and cannulation, ECGs, catheterisation, Intermediate Life Support (ILS), IV therapies, wound care, nasogastric tube insertion, pressure ulcer prevention/management.
• Diabetes Link Nurse: extensive understanding into diabetes and diabetes management, teaching and liaising with staff to ensure they have the latest evidence based information.

Staff Nurse - Cardiac High Dependency Unit at University Hospital Southampton (2025-01 – Present)

Seconded to the Cardiac High Dependency Unit in order to gain additional experience in monitoring and caring for acutely unwell patients. Full time position from January 2025-October 2025, part-time role (15 hours/week) since January 2026.

• Monitoring critically ill/post-surgical patients, A-E assessments and escalating concerns.
• Monitoring includes: haemodynamic status (blood pressure, heart rate and rhythm), fluid balance, blood results (especially electrolytes, renal function and haemoglobin) and responding to any changes.
• Application of the skills gained on the Young Adult Cardiac ward to a new environment with higher acuity.
• Prioritisation of workload within a busy environment.
• Completion of Cardiac Advanced Life Support (CALs) course.
