Whilst in fifth year at high school, attended Milnathort nursery every Friday over a period of roughly seven months. Gained first understanding of how childcare settings work. Placement at Milnathort Primary After School Club (2019-10 – 2019-12) During NC at Perth College UHI, placed on placement at Milnathort primary school's after school club for 4 days a week over roughly 6/7 weeks until December 2019. Gained experience working with children from Primary One to Primary Five. Given tasks of setting out equipment and toys before children's arrival and preparing snacks.

Observed effects of COVID-19 pandemic in a setting, including mask wearing, social distancing, and COVID cleaning procedures.
Worker at Macpherson Contractors (2019-05 – 2021-09) For 3 years (May/June - September 2019, 2020, 2021) worked seasonal work lasting between 3-4 months over the summer. Worked with different people from various backgrounds and countries. Initially shy but developed confidence over time.

First paid job in childcare. Built confidence in childcare profession and developed new skills. Developed observation skills by progressing from daily posts to curriculum linked observations. Enhanced communication skills with parents. During understaffed period, became key worker of 9 additional children, bringing total to 17 key children.

Currently, I am working as a Pupil Support Assistant under Fife council in woodmill high schools enhanced provision department. Here I’ve worked with children from a range of different backgrounds and cultures - with different disabilities and medical needs. I’ve learned so much about communication and deescalation.
