Art Table Volunteer at Community Club
Whilst my mum was at university, she co-ran a club for young people with profound learning difficulties and additional needs focusing on music, sport, dance, drama, art and anything that encourages mobility, independence and laughter.
Saturday for two years I was the 'art table volunteer' independently supporting around 6 young people aged 16-24. I would assist with feeding back what they liked to do and what not and what they wanted to do the following weeks, lay all the materials out for them, do demonstrations then support encourage enable them to make things like potted plants, friendship bracelets, finding things in the garden to paint and print.
Childcare Assistant at Private Family
Occasional childcare duties in the evenings collecting a friend's child from afterschool club and taking them home, assisting with homework, diffusing arguments and making their tea. This is for a couple of hours due to their parents crossing over shifts twice a week. This is not a formal commitment and will not hinder any hours presented in a new role.
