Keely Thompson

I am a Newly Qualified Social Worker with a BA (Hons) Social Work degree from the University of Derby and a substantial background in health and social care spanning more than a decade. Throughout my career I have supported vulnerable adults, older people, children, young people and families across community, residential, hospital and statutory settings. My professional experience has enabled me to develop strong assessment, communication, safeguarding and relationship-based practice skills while maintaining a person-centred and strengths-based approach.

I am particularly passionate about promoting independence, empowering individuals to achieve positive outcomes and ensuring that people remain at the centre of decision-making processes affecting their lives. During my social work placements I gained practical experience of Care Act assessments, safeguarding enquiries, risk assessments, support planning, Mental Capacity Act work, hospital discharge pathways, report writing and multidisciplinary working. I managed a developing caseload under supervision and became confident in maintaining accurate case recordings, completing statutory paperwork and producing professional documentation.

My previous healthcare experience has also provided a strong understanding of complex health conditions, discharge planning, risk management and collaborative working. I am now seeking to build upon my knowledge, values and experience within a Social Worker or Social Care Practitioner role where I can continue making a positive difference to the lives of vulnerable people.
