My name is Kevin Edmunds, I am 49 years old and I live in Littlehampton with my wife and two children. I’ve been working for Network Rail for 16 years.
I am currently Track Geometry Supervisor for the Eastleigh/Southampton Aera.
I describe myself as very enthusiastic and I have a great passion for knowledge. I pride myself on being the best I can be and doing the best I can. I do not shy away from hard work and am always looking for ways to expand my knowledge.
Over the course of my career I have held many roles which I've enjoyed all of.
My Current Duties as TQS 2023-Present
Mark up obstructions for tamping/ stoneblower operations. Liaise with machine operators and check machine output to present a good standard of work.
· Supervise on-track machines operations to deliver optimum output.
· Mark up design lifts and slues and check schemes.
· Check clearances for tamping/stoneblower operations through structures.
· Plan and undertake site inspections to identify preparatory work for tamping/stoneblower operations. Preparatory work to be planned and carried out in liaison with Track Section Managers.
· Direct and supervise staff allocated to assist on track machine operations.
· Produce and process paper and electronic records of tamping/stoneblower operations in accordance with laid down procedures.
· Assist with other duties as directed by the Track Maintenance Engineer.
SECTION SUPERVISOR EASTLIEGH P-WAY 2020-2023
Responsible for the Maintenance/Inspection Team we are very active with all the teams at Eastleigh P-Way.
Track Geometry was my main task within Eastliegh which involves many data tools including DST,TIGER,TRACES AND PLPR,with 054 crossing inspections coming a close second of my duties.
I carry out the Four Weekly and Period Briefs with the teams as well as Site Surveillance and regular Safety Critical Communication monitoring.
I carry out regular PAISS checks and Van Inspections on my team as well as weekly planned work discussions and Safety Conversations. These are then recorded on I.R.I.S. which is a system.All staff have iPads and they have been put to great use and really made us a more efficient team.TEFs can be shared immediately within the teams. This includes Response SSOWPS and Line Blockage Forms. we are very passionate about efficiency and making sure the way things are done is the best way available to the team.
I am also Level 1 On Call for Eastleigh P-Way which is something I really enjoy. Over these 14 years I have built good relationships with our Sussex Control/WICC and Signalling colleagues which is something I work hard to keep.
All Track Geometry train run’s are reviewed by me and I make decisions on the priority of the faults/defects and assign the team tasks.
