Throughout my career I have dedicated my life to working with vulnerable individuals who require support to have the best quality of life. I have worked with the homeless and as a support worker working with individuals with Autism and learning disabilities. I then went on to work as a police officer with Greater Manchester Police where I was faced with challenging and traumatic incidents throughout my tour of duty, and this has given me the confidence to deal with any situation that come my way.

The Wish centre- Independent domestic violence advisor (OP PROVIDE)- Oct 2023-Pending

• Creating safety plans and undertaking risk assessments.
• Accompanying clients to court.
• Supporting clients to give evidence and write victim impact statements.
• Assisting clients in securing their property. 
• Providing emotional support to clients and referring them to counselling or mental health services.
• Working with social services on child protection issues.

• Responding to calls from members of the public and making sure to deliver high standards ensuring members of the public are safe and supported. 

• Investigating crimes reported to the police by members of the public and making sure evidence is collected effectively in order to get justice for the victim. 

• Making arrests and interviewing suspects to further collect evidence and to give the accused opportunity to explain their side. If an account is given by the accused, then this is also investigated to prevent any bias from occurring. 

• Advice members of the public about crime prevention and how to protect themselves. Additionally, if anyone is struggling then they are referred to the relevant organisations. 

• Working as part of a team and helping colleagues if they need assistance. It is important to make sure that everyone works together as this will make this easier on everyone and members of the public have faith in the organisation. 

• Constantly keeping touch with members of the public this can be the elderly, young people, children, homeless, individuals with mental health problems, domestic violence victims, families etc. Members of the public need to feel that they are a priority. 

• Liaising with other professionals like social workers, nurses, doctors housing officer to provide the best all rounded support for the individual. 

• Working with vulnerable individuals with Autism and learning disability and providing emotional wellbeing to the individual and their families.

• Providing practical support to the individuals who required support. Taking them on activities, and also helping individuals with personal care routines so that their hygiene is not neglected.

• Administering medication to individuals being supported and making sure their health care needs were met. Making sure that any medical changes in the individual is recorded and action is taken immediately, and the families are informed.

• Working with individuals that were homeless and trying to create long term goals for the individual so that their future is more stable.

• Encouraging individuals to improve their skills to better their opportunity for job prospect. Listening to the individuals of what they enjoy doing and trying to find opportunities within that field.

Engage Support- Lead Support Worker- September 2015- October 2018

• Teaching individuals’ new skills and encouraging them to be independent and helping them to do basic tasks for themselves.

• Helping individuals and their families to access the community and the facilities that are available so that they are included in family groups.

• Working with individuals with different communication levels and being able to adapt my communication to interact with the individuals. Many individuals were nonverbal, communication continued through visual aids, tone of voice and body language.

• Analysing the individuals care needs and creating support plans as the lead support worker. Using computer to create this and making sure all paperwork is organised for all team members.
