Kyra Alvarez

My experience as an international student can be described in two words: adaptability and versatility. It has shaped me to become more culturally aware and acclimatise myself to be comfortable and work effectively in whatever situation. My versatility is shown in my educational background in both sport science and international business, which are two very different fields of study.

These have shaped me into the person I am today. I am interested in culture, and what it means to people. Joining the Exeter University Filipino Society and Filifest have taught me to love the culture I was brought up with in a deeper, more symbolic way, and joining the Legion Dance society has let me find an avenue to express myself creatively through the art of dance and performance.

I have worked leadership roles as CEO (2020-2023) and as a university society president (2022-2024), as well as having worked as part of bar team staff (2022) and volunteer marketing (2023)

I have just finished a Masters Degree in MSc International Business at the University of Exeter, and previously completed my Bachelors Degree in BSc (Hons) Exercise and Sports Science with proficiency in French also at the University of Exeter.
